3 WAYS TO WEAR THE LINGERIE TREND
By Lucy Glen, 28 May 2018
During summer, it's entirely appropriate to float about in dainty slip dresses, after all it is the season for maximum skin exposure. Now that winter has rolled around, we’re taking sleepwear to the next level, adding extra layers and opting for the chicer version of underwear as outerwear. From cool corsets to day-appropriate lacy cami tops, here are three ways to wear the lingerie-dressing trend…

The big reveal
At first mention, corsets may evoke images of medieval instruments of sartorial torture, but for 2018, the reality is pure broderie bliss. Case in point? This white textured crop top has the risqué addition of a brassiere-style neckline, but by adding a layer underneath it keeps it totally right for day. Amp up the 90s angle by pairing it with off-white utility trousers, and finish by championing the white boots trend with this ranch-worthy pair. So good.

Pay slip
If the thought of choosing lingerie for outerwear conjures immediate pangs of fear, the slip skirt is your reliable middle man. The midi skirt is essentially a year round staple, so opt for this delicate dressing upgrade. In silky jade green with a high side slit, it’s the hint-of-what’s-underneath contrast lace that really sets pulses racing. A white long-sleeve tee balances out the detailing in the look, and to break up the colour, a 60s-style patterned bum bag and metal-capped western boots.

Get shorty
Too pretty to keep in the bedroom, these white high-waisted shorts, with a delicate fringe of lace peeking out underneath are a great alternative to denim. Avoid veering too much into lingerie territory by adding cool skate-style features. A check shirt layered with a warm, black undershirt immediately grunges the whole deal up, and high sports socks plus chunky 80s technical trainers introduce a retro, street-style element. Finish with a pop of colour (and texture) via a bold Instagram favourite: a netted red bag.
