5 LIT SNEAKER LOOKS
By Maybelle Morgan, 20 February 2018
Sneakers are the all-time undisputed heavyweight champion of the footwear world. They’re a solid investment, dependable and can pack a sartorial punch if worn right. Proof? ASOS Insider Barbara with her consistently beyond impeccable sneakers-meet-socks-meet-pants combos. Here are five of our favourites…

Preppy poise
Shell toes are the perfect beginner's foray into a full-blown sneaker love affair, especially these soft-look adidas beauties with baby pink detailing. Barbara amps up that preppy vibe by keeping the colour palette precious and pastel. Gingham socks and cropped tapered fairyfloss pants are a win-win situation, too.

Technical toes
OK, so they’re not the sleekest shoe in the world (you know, all angular contours and such), but it’s the clunky, awkward shaping of the Reebok Instapump Fury OG that has made it such a street-style hit. Bulky gets a sassy dress-up with bright red socks – peeking out of the cut-outs, no less – and loud leopard-print trousers.

Platform player
If you’re after a tougher, more skater-style deal, it’s all about the chunky sneaker silhouette. And these Fenty x PUMAs really deliver with the all-over leather finish, monochrome colouring and badass platform cleated sole. Keep that cool-girl urban getup going strong with bright’n’bold camouflage pants (casj denim hem turn-up encouraged).

Sequin sit down
If your week is a bit slow, sometimes it’s up to you to bring the brightness: ‘We’ll take the blinding sequin high-tops, please.’ Barbara goes hard on the colour scheme, with 80s nods all over the shop: neon yellow socks + slogan track pants in sheeny teal. Oh, yes.

Retro realness
Your dad owned a pair in the 80s and now the infamous spongy technical trainer is back for another round, but this time we’re so into it – rather than cry-laughing at them in old photographs. White rolled-up mom jeans keep that vintage throwback vibe going before Barbara injects a small dose of fun into the look with monochrome zebra-print socks.
