The wardrobe classics French girls dig, and you should too
By Gemma Estrela, 3 May 2017
If you believe the hype, 'less is more' is 99.9% of French women's golden rule, and (bold statement coming through) there's really no-one who does it quite like model, style icon and online store founder of Rouje, Jeanne Damas. Doubters, prepare to convert, and fans of the style classics raise your hands in solidarity as we take a look at five of Jeanne's signature looks and how you can nail them too.

That fresh white shirt flex
On paper it's simple, but in reality basics can look, well basic. Opt for a white blouse which has attention-grabbing details, like a tie-neck and ruffle detailing. Add a gently flared cropped jean and the whole look is transformed into something all together chicer.

Trench time
A trench for autumn might not sound groundbreaking, but there’s a reason why you need one in your style-ammo: there's not a lot you can’t wear it with. Give it a twist by straying from the go-to beige or khaki shades, and clash with your other favourites like Jeanne in her bright orange tee and popping mini bag. Now all you need is some banging shoes and a top-notch pedi (French girl grooming must).

Power prints
You can't ignore the power of a good print, and while polka dots are far from minimal, they are a French girl classic (loved by the likes of Brigitte Bardot and adopted Brit, Jane Birkin). Why? Well they make serious waves in any wardrobe. To keep it simple opt for monochrome, like Jeanne, then build up the look with delicate gold accessories and a statement lip (in bold pink this time).
