THE CIRCULAR COLLECTION
By Steven Potter, 28 September 2020
Ok, so, we’re really excited about this one. Yeah, sure, the ASOS DESIGN Circular Collection is chock-a-block with sweet 90s styling, 90s-influenced prints and a very AW20 colour palette, but it’s also heavy on the circular design cred. And WTF is that, we hear you ask? Well, it’s all about reducing, re-using and recycling. More specifically, the three 🔑 foundations are: designing out waste, creating garms that you can use again and again for as long as poss, and putting recycling front and centre. Most other circular collections have pieces that touch on just one of those, but everything in our collection hits a minimum of two – and many pieces nail all three! So, yeah, we think it’s worth shouting about.

THE PURPLE SUIT
ASOS DESIGN CIRCULAR unisex suit blazer in lilac, $116
ASOS DESIGN CIRCULAR unisex suit trousers in lilac, $70
This is our MOST SUSTAINABLE SUIT EVER. For real, though: every little bit of it is made from recycled materials – even the shoulder pads! The story doesn’t end there though; each part of the suit is made from one-fibre materials (ICYDK, it’s still quite tricky to recycle fabrics made of two or more fibres), and to make this process even easier, you can even separate out the lining, pockets and shoulder pads to ensure TOTAL recyclability. No waste here, people – just slick suiting that’s big on responsible vibes 🕺

UNISEX KNITWEAR
Yep, you gotta be in knits to win it (sorry), and this season, the above tank top in our Circular Collection is a great place to start 🧶 Due to drop soon on-site, not only is it perfect for wildly unpredictable autumn temps and massive on retro feels, but it’s also been created using only as much yarn as necessary, and that means minimised waste. This knit’s also been fitted on both men and women to ensure it can be used again and again. Oh, and of course, it’s as recyclable as the suit above, because it’s also made from a single, easy-to-recycle fibre (100% cotton).

THE ZERO-WASTE SHIRT
You know what goes well with a purple suit? A purple shirt (the one above is dropping on-site v soon!). You know what goes better with the environment? A purple shirt designed using a zero-waste process. Yep, this colour-drenched dream was designed with no fabric waste whatsoever – pretty nifty, eh? It's a technique our design team have all been trained in, so expect more of this to come... Oh, and much like its slick suit wingman, this shirt is hugely recyclable, cos it’s made from 100% organic cotton. What a dream team 🙌

THE UPCYCLED SHIRT
ASOS DESIGN CIRCULAR unisex regular fit shirt in multi stripe, $60
Stripes are so cool, so wearable, that we thought, hey – why not splice three different styles together and create an ultra-stripey mega-shirt? We also thought: hey, you know that fabric waste that’s not doing anything? Why don’t we use that to make this shirt, all in the name of upcycling? So, there you have it: the most stripey shirt in the world (probably), created using upcycled materials that you can recycle again when you’re done with it. Nice.

THE RECYCLABLE DENIM JACKET
ASOS DESIGN CIRCULAR Recycled unisex jacket in midwash blue, $80
This isn’t just your new favourite trophy jacket. It’s another one-fibre winner, made of both BCI AND recycled cotton! Plus, you can easily remove any metal details (like buttons) so it can be recycled responsibly. It’s also designed so it can be worn, shared and re-styled, over and over. And lastly, we’ve used lasers on it – very 3020👽 – to get the vintage, washed effect in an environmentally responsible way. Oh, and it also comes with a handy denim-care guide, so you can get maximum looks out of it for the longest possible time. Basically, it’s a lifer.
