STYLING

RING-READY STYLE WITH REEBOK

Whether you’re stepping into the ring for the first time or you’re already a prize-winning champ, your training gear should pack as much of a punch as your right hook. And this season, sportswear legend Reebok is serving some knockout looks for your gym sesh. Below, UK-based mixed martial artist Kingsley Crawford put two 'fits to the test and tells us his reasons to move.

For ring-side steez, you can’t go wrong with a monochrome track top. The slick retro vibes and oversized logo mean you can take this piece straight from the gym to the streets. Just swap out those training shorts for jeans or chinos and you’re good to go. The hand wraps are very much performance gear, but top marks for matching them to the rest of the ‘fit.

These specialist boots are designed to cater for all martial arts activities, ensuring your focus is up top and not on your feet. Cut in the traditional high-top style, they have supportive strapping and a cushioned midsole for that ‘float like a butterfly’ kinda vibe. Plus, the breathable mesh means Kingsley can keep his cool as he runs rings around, well, the ring.

Breaking down the layers, this grey T-shirt is the perfect lightweight piece for training. With oversized Reebok Boxing branding on the chest and sleeve, it’s a street-ready take on performance gear. Kingsley's teamed it with lightweight training shorts made with Reebok’s Speedwick tech, which draws sweat away from the body. Genius.

The Speed TR Flexweave trainers serve up sweet monochrome looks – and they have lots of hidden features to help your workout, too. Like the heel clip, which supports stability, and the sole, which has lots of grip to keep you grounded – plus a mid-section specifically designed to help with rope climbs during training. Ideal.

Here are Kingsley's reasons to move:

What tips do you have for people struggling to get motivated?

One way I stay motivated is to always look forward no matter how fast or slow I'm progressing. Don't worry about what others around you are doing and before you know it, you'll look back and be surprised by how far you've come. All progress is good progress.

How did you get into mixed martial arts?

I first started training around the age of 15 when myself and my friends went to a Muay Thai class after school. We only stayed for half an hour but it was the hardest 30 minutes of my life.

How does it make you feel?

Pushing myself gave me a sense of accomplishment so I knew I had to go back again.
