GROOMING TIPS

6 FACIAL-HAIR FIXERS

Sporting a beard all year round can seem like a bold move. A lot of guys go for a trim in late spring under the false illusion that facial hair equals extra warmth, but as a proud owner of a beard for the past three years, I can tell you that that’s simply not the case.

So, if you want to keep your facial follicles in check, here are six products available on ASOS that I've tried and tested to help you maintain your mane this season.

Due to the texture of my hair, my beard can get unruly. Babyliss is a big name in the haircare industry, so its reliable range of clippers is a godsend when it comes to giving your facial hair some shape. This set was easy to manoeuvre to get into all the hard-to-reach spots and the razor left sharp, clean lines. In comparison to clippers I’ve used in the past, this one’s definitely a cut above (ba-dum-chu).

When it comes to staying well groomed, David Beckham is that guy (did you see him at the royal wedding, jeez). So, fortunately for us fellas, he’s released a line of grooming products to keep you looking sharp from head to, well, chin, in this case. This hair and beard balm from his House 99 range smells so good and it absorbed into my skin pretty quickly. Good looking out, Becks.

House 99 Seriously Groomed Beard & Hair Balm, $34

If you’re accustomed to having facial hair, you’ll know that beards can often have a life of their own – a dry patch here, a follicle that refuses to lay flat there. But in times of need when your beard is particularly out of control, this handy set from Mr Natty will undoubtedly save the day. Featuring two super-hydrating beard elixirs and a moisturising butter, this little trio is just what you need to smooth things over.

‘Stray hairs? I don’t know what they are, mate, sorry,’ is exactly what you’ll be saying once you add this bad boy to your grooming routine. As far as beard balms go it’s on the cheaper side, but don’t let that put you off in terms of thinking that it’ll be less effective. This balm from Uppercut Deluxe has a very thick consistency, which takes more effort to work into your skin, but will leave your face feeling ultra-soft.

Now, it’s common practice to get so caught up in sorting out your beard that your moustache inadvertently gets side-stepped in the process. In order to not make this rookie mistake, the Men’s Society grooming kit has got you covered. It comes with a novelty moustache-shaped comb for jokes, and the trimming scissors will ensure that wispy upper-lip hairs are a thing of the past.
