STYLISH GUYS IN FRESH DENIM
By Lakeisha Goedluck, 3 April 2018
Corduroy and velour may be the fabrics of choice at the moment, but there’s no material better suited to autumn weather than denim. From light-washed skater jeans to 90s-style double-denim ensembles, it’s all about rocking your favourite jean-based cuts for 2018. For inspiration on how to style them, check out these street stylers clad in fresh denim pieces.

Of late, streetwear aficionados have been stocking up on retro sneakers. Nike’s most popular models from the decade have been reaching the 20-years-old mark, so to celebrate, the brand’s been reviving its iconic silhouettes in fresh colourways. To join in on the hype, try styling a pair of old-school kicks with straight-leg light-washed jeans like this guy, and don a colour-block track jacket on your top half to complete your road-ready look.

If you’re after a more relaxed ensemble, layering up with a denim jacket is the way to go – as this fella so expertly proves. Starting off with a simple black knitted jumper, he picks a mid-washed denim worker jacket to wear on top for serious transitional steez. Down low, he goes for a pair of brown jeans (notice how the colour matches the buttons on his jacket) and finishes his getup with a laid-back pair of adidas Gazelles.

An aesthetic that’s been high on the sartorial agenda recently is streetwear remixed with skatewear staples – and this guy’s mastered the look. On his top half, a hoodie, sportswear gilet, cross-body bag and fisherman beanie satisfy the street-lead aspect of his getup, while a pair of slim-fit jeans with rolled cuffs and chilled Converse One Star sneakers add a skate-inspired touch. Oh, and carrying a skateboard as an accessory helps, too.

When it comes to wearing double denim, taking the tonal route is not for the faint-hearted. This guy manages to pull the look off well, though, by throwing some patterning into the mix. He opts for a classic Breton top and layers up with a light-washed denim shirt, while down low, he goes for high-waisted indigo jeans hoisted up by a set of suspenders. To add to the workwear vibe of his ’fit, he rounds off his style with a pair of sturdy lace-ups and a rucksack casually slung over his shoulder.
