6 MOISTURISERS TESTED

If you’re like me and easily won over by original package design, then this one will catch your eye right away. Luckily, as a moisturiser, Triumph & Disaster Gameface has strong credentials so this isn’t a style over substance situation. It is a little on the greasy side with its heavy texture, so you might need to massage your face a bit to blend it in – but the payoff is a long-lasting, nourishing moisturiser you can count on. An unexpected bonus of this all natural cream is its attractive woody smell, meaning it can suffice as an aftershave if you fancy. At $68, you’ll be paying a premium, but due to its weight you only need to use the smallest of dabs when applying so this 90ml tube goes a long way.
For a moisturising novice, this one was perhaps the most impressive of the bunch. The Elemis Daily Moisture Boost is so lightweight and easy to apply, you can hardly feel it soon after. It comes with a special blend of green tamanu oil and cactus flower, which in layman’s terms means it soothes and nourishes your skin. It’s easy to notice how effective it is after only a few uses – my skin felt softer and even shaving became much easier. Landing towards the top end of the price range, this $64 bottle is only 50ml so be economical with it but don’t let that stop you from treating yourself – it’s a total dream.
If the warm, healthy glow of a tinted moisturiser is what you’re after then meet Myego’s Fonteint Tinted Moisturiser. This natural-looking cream, fit for all shades of skin, is made with jojoba and shea nuts so not only does it soothe but it’s also good at evening out your skin tone. It does resemble a foundation cream so you’ll have to properly massage your face for it to blend in but once you’re done, you should be streak-free and radiant. Tinted moisturisers are also the right direction to go if you’re looking to give your complexion a little boost – think pre-tan prep or hiding the effects of your big night out the morning after.
For those with sensitive or dry skin, give this one a go. From the much-loved Yes To beauty crew, the Yes To Cucumbers Calming Moisturiser does exactly what it says: cools, soothes and smoothes the skin with only a few uses. It’s incredibly light and therefore absorbs with ease, boasts 97% natural ingredients and leaves your face smelling of, well, cucumbers. Consider Yes To Cucumbers a quick and easy fix for the skin at an accessible price.
Shout-out to all those who know the daily struggles of oily skin. The key to this one by Formula 10.0.6 is that it is a mattifying moisturiser, so while it achieves what every other moisturiser can, it also keeps your face shine-free, just as the name suggests. The matte texture means this is a weightier cream so it will take longer to apply and absorb – and admittedly it does pack an odd scent – but if you can get past that then this is a moisturiser that will reliably rid your face of that oily sheen.
