HOW TO WEAR: TRANSITIONAL JACKETS
By Lakeisha Goedluck, 13 September 2017
It's finally September, which means that winter's nearly over and summer's shining on the horizon. Therefore, it's time to prepare accordingly by switching out your cover-ups and updating your wardrobe with some smart layers to shield you from the rapidly changing weather. To get you started, here's a selection of transitional jackets that'll see you right through the in-between-y days of spring.

Half-zip hype
If there's one particular strand of outerwear that's reigned supreme this year, it's the 90s-flavoured half-zip. Show that you know how to nail transitional dressing the 2017 way by wearing a lightweight half-zip windbreaker in a fresh, block colour that'll brighten up the gloomiest of spring evenings.

To really prove your new-season sartorial skill, pair it with velour trackies in a contrasting colour, complete with on-trend side stripes. Steezy.

Light-brown layer
Muted tones like beige and brown are colours to look out for. Experiment with textures and style this tan corduroy jacket over a magenta velour jumper for an authentic 70s look.

Don a pair of trews in a deep-purple shade for a 'fit that plays with tones – sitting somewhere between the rich retro palette of Prada, Ami and Marni's 2017 collections and a particularly pleasing display of seasonal foliage.

Trenchtown rock
A trench coat is always a solid choice when it comes to this in-between period – sturdy enough to withstand a stiff breeze and an unexpected shower, light and loose enough to accommodate as many layers as you need underneath. Dispel the myth that pastel colours are reserved only for high-summer by wearing a bluey-green trench with a tracksuit top in a similarly soft shade of pale purple underneath.

For extra slickness, pick a pair of cropped trousers that match your rolled-up coat cuffs, and rock the spring-colours-for-always vibe going with a pastel pink cap and complementing sneaks.
