3 NEW COLOURS FOR AUTUMN
By Sam Higgins, 6 April 2017
After months of rolling boardies and tees, the cooler temps are emerging and so too have our new-season threads that are as fresh as the morning in Autumn. But if you’re looking to really shine sartorially this year, it’s not just about trading in your shorts for a pair of jeans – perfecting your palette is also key. With that in mind, we’ve pulled together three new hues that’ll take your style to new levels.
By now, you’re probably well versed in achieving pink pre-eminence, and for the new season we’re talking dusty tones. Offering a more pared-back option, go for powdery pink on a shirt and surround it with pieces that provide a tonal touch. A pink suede cap and striped quarter-zip sweater will nicely complement the hue up top, while, below the belt, throw on some blue jeans and a pair of fresh white kicks for a neat finish.
It was no coincidence that, after cashing in his chips, Prince’s signature hue found its way into the menswear mainstream, with your favourite hoodies, denim jackets and even trainers getting in on the purple party. For the more sartorially orthodox, deep purple isn’t too big a jump from trusty all black. Pair a purple denim jacket with a band tee, slick joggers and retro-inspired adidas kicks and you’ll achieve style smoother than a Greenmount left.
It seems that Autumn is the season that citrus hues will really bear fruit. Unlike subdued purple and pink, orange adds a zesty injection to your seasonal gear. The key here is to keep the surrounding palette earthy – a camo shacket, pair of brown trousers and matching trainers provide a understated foundation for the bright hue to shine.
