OUTFIT FOR A LONG WEEKEND
By Sarah Kershaw, 21 September 2017
With the first long weekend on the horizon since June, we are making plans. This is great for several reasons – quite apart from sunny days at the beach, a day off and Sundays that feel like Saturdays, it gives you an extra day to wear more excellent garms.

This outfit is the Platonic ideal of public holiday getups. Lots of layering in a low-key 70s palette, with a few necessary accessories on the side – perfect. Start with a fresh white tee layered over a red, striped sweatshirt to keep the retro feel alive, or on hotter days, pack the pullover into your roll-top bag and throw over a striped, short-sleeved shirt for a real summery feel. Keep a classic, camel coach jacket to hand in case the wind picks up.
Dickies cargo trews in khaki are a neutral base whether you’re roaming the country or urban exploring, while trusty Vans Old Skool kicks offer a slick and comfy footwear option for all that walking about you’ll be doing. Store your extras in your bag and finish with a pair of round sunnies to complete the long-weekend look.
