Last year, as the world increasingly made no sense, conversation became our safe place. We searched for people striving to bring change, and two voices who spoke with honesty, passion and wisdom were Yara Shahidi and Adwoa Aboah. 

As Black-ish, the show Yara stars in, increased in popularity, the 17-year-old's voice became stronger. Whether it was speaking about education alongside Michelle Obama, or starting Yara’s Club to initiate digital meet-ups between schools, 2016 proved that if Yara’s talking, it’s worth listening. Then there’s Adwoa, 24, a model whose experience of being bipolar drove her to launch Gurls Talk, an online platform whose ambition to remind young women they’re not alone is providing inspiration for girls globally.
