The summers of the early noughties weren’t just ruled by Kylie, Rui da Silva and Usher on loop. Tube tops were a maje part of our lives. They came in leather, funky fabrics or metallics and we teamed them with wide-leg black trousers (see Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2002). SJP as Carrie B in SATC couldn’t get enough of hers and Victoria Beckham ended up doing a duet with Dane Bowers in one.
Fast forward to March 2015 and the tube top is back – and it’s never felt more fashion. London-based design duo Marques Almeida have the London style set in a twist with their take on frayed denim and longer length bandeau tops shocking pink and floral (below), while Topshop Unique pulled out mega-luxe versions in shiny metallics. Whatever you wear it with, just make sure you pair yours with some full-on Friday night confidence. Nobody likes a tube top sat down with its arms crossed.
