Last night at Somerset House (AKA London Fashion Week HQ) ASOS hosted its first fashion week talk: #MyBigIdea, centering around the simple question, 'what does it take to build your own brand?'. Our big bad fash pow-wow saw four of fashion's most inspiring, engaging and generally brilliant women share their secrets on how to get a foot in the door of one of the world's most competitive industries.

The women in question were Sharmadean Reid, founder of WAH Nails; Pandora Sykes, fashion features editor at The Sunday Times Style Magazine; Lou Stoppard, journalist, ShowStudio stalwart and soon-to-be author; and Melanie Ashley, tech start-up guru of Digi Fairy fame and design extraordinaire. The hour-long chat saw the girls touch on everything from selfies and clubbing to Bloomberg's Business and opening the best nail salon on the planet.

You can check out the whole talk here, but in the meantime, here are four floor-your-mates quotes from last night.
