Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, born on this day in 1966, was an ordinary, shy girl from Connecticut whose style and otherworldly beauty meant that she went on to live a pretty extraordinary life. Spotted by a Calvin Klein employee after graduating, she was recruited to work at the Boston store and nabbed a job at CK HQ in New York. She became a New York fashion girl who embodied everything the house was about in the Kate Moss and Marky Mark era: cool minimalism and understated glamour. In 1996, she married the world’s most eligible bachelor, John Kennedy Jr, in a Narciso Rodriguez gown, ensuring her place on bride-to-be's Pinterest boards for decades to come. Her charmed life came to a tragically early end when she died in a plane crash with her husband and sister in 1999.
Here are three of our favourite CB-K looks that show why her 90s style is just as covetable now.
