Keeping it simple – with a touch of glitter to salute those fireworks – looks major with any kind of outfit and I'm loving this cute idea from
KandiLand Nails in California. Try out the glitter hearts using a nail art pen (give it a few tries on paper first, so you master the 'squeeze and draw' technique before applying to your nails) or a thin brush in some gold varnish will work just as well. Finish your look with a lovely glossy top coat and cuticle oil to keep your cuticles looking fresh.
Got some time over Christmas to go hard on your NYE nail look? Try this idea from
esNAIL in Japan. A little bit more subtle but insanely cool, this look requires painting a good base colour to match your skin tone. Once dried, paint a flash of colour at the tip of your nail with one swift movement and fix up any mistakes with a nail corrector pen.
Just want to add a bit of sparkle and nothing else? Then be the master of your own glitter varnish and create your own look. I love this
Nails by Yoko mani, especially with the matching rings! It's also perfect for any length of nail and super quick to achieve.
Right now, I like to use glittery top coats (try a bold version like
Barry M Aquarium Nail Paint in Treasure Chest or L'Oréal Color Riche Metallic Top Coat in Discoball) so that the bare nail shows through, rather than mixing with coloured varnish.
As it’s NYE, I’m going down to Sparkle Town (yep, that place exists). You don't need to be super neat with this mani – it looks better with a handpainted effect. Plus, it doesn't take long to master – leaving you plenty of time to work out your NYE dance routine.
First, I prepped my nail and ensured my cuticles were looking sweet, then applied a clear base coat to keep my glitter on lockdown. I dabbed metallic blue near the cuticle line on some fingers and at the tips on others, then dabbed on metallic green. Once the blue was dry, I added a touch more to deepen the colour into a rich navy. Using a thin striper brush, I accented the dark patches with a flash of black. To finish, I added in splodges of glitter and secured with a top coat so it stays put until 2015.
I'll be back in Jan, to help to nail a new signature look! Until then Happy New Year from me and
