Super babe and super ass-kicker, Milla Jovovich turns 39 today, but way back in the late 80s and early 90s before she became known for her sci-fi role in The Fifth Element, Ukrainian-born Milla was the coolest teen in America. Encouraged by her pushy mother, she was on the cover of edgy style bible The Face aged just 12, and went on to appear in Return To The Blue Lagoon, the follow-up to the famous Brooke Shields movie, as well as the funniest, best teen movie ever, Dazed And Confused (seriously, watch it now).

Like a grungier Brooke Shields, her pinnable snapshots from the era of cool still inspire today. Here are some of our faves.
