Day one of New York Fashion Week KO'd with a bang yesterday, muffled only by the long-haired, pastel-coloured Fraggle-fur coats seen on the Coach catwalk. So, quick history lesson: Coach is huge in the US and has always been handbag-focussed. That was until Brit designer Stuart Vevers, who once headed up Mulberry, joined the brand just over a year ago to shake things up, making apparel and a host of cool girls wearing it (name check: Phoebe Collings-James and Adwoa Aboah) part of the Coach DNA.
