REACH FOR THE BEACH HERE
Where: Cape Town, South Africa.
Who: South African model Behati Prinsloo (AKA Victoria's Secret model and GF to Maroon 5's Adam Levine).
Why: All eyes are on SA this year as 2014 marks the 20th anniversary of its first, proper democratic elections and the country continues to mourn Nelson Mandela. Cape Town also celebrates its title as World Design Capital this year which will see fashion shows and open houses from next month.
MAKE YOUR TUMBLR LOOK LIKE BEYONCE'S HERE
Where: Havana, Cuba.
Who: Well, Beyoncé and Jay Z celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary here (despite it being difficult for US citizens to go to Cuba for tourism) and every single picture was like a Tumblr dream. It's all bright colours, old-school motors and amazing hats.
Why: Last year saw 2,000 travellers visit Cuba and this number's expected to grow even more in 2014, so hurry!
GET YOUR MUSIC/BEER FIX HERE
Who: Tourist and beer drinker, Liv Tyler.
Why: Firstly, Lonely Planet voted it the third best place in the world to visit this year and secondly, the area totally breeds fashion talent (hello model Sam Rollinson and Christopher Bailey), music talent like Alex Turner and art talent (Sheffield has more artist studios than any other UK city outside London). Oh, and there's a great new brewery opened in Halifax, so if you're a fan of beer, you've come to the right place.
GET YOUR COOL CREDENTIALS HERE
Where: Austin, Texas.
Who: Ryan Gosling and Rooney Mara spotted here on set.
Why: If the only thing you know about Texas involves either Beyoncé or NASA, then get to know its coolest city this year. British Airways flies to Austin non-stop from March and the city's indie film/music SXSW festival in March always sees celebs flocking in. Oh, and, Terrence The Tree Of Life director Malick's latest film starring Ryan and Rooney is still in production there, so you may just spot The Gos too...

FEEL LIKE YOU'RE IN A MOVIE HERE
Where: Budapest, Hungary.
Why: We can totally thank Wes Anderson's upcoming film, The Grand Budapest Hotel, for putting this Hungarian city back on the map. Plus, the afterparty to the annual festival Sziget (August) was named the 'Best New Festival' at the European Festival Awards so you can expect a roaring social scene too.
GET YOUR SUN, SEA, SAND AND CULTURE FIX HERE
Where: Tel Aviv, Israel.
Who: Israeli model Bar Refaeli (yes, Leonardo DiCaprio's ex).
Why: From April, EasyJet will start flying to Tel Aviv from London Gatwick, along with Luton and Manchester, so there's no need for this trip to break the bank. And in July, nearby Jerusalem will host a Season of Culture which includes fancy immersive art displays. Beach + art? What more could you need?
CHANNEL YOUR INNER BACKPACKER HERE
Where: Siem Reap, Cambodia
Who: Angelina Jolie's had a major soft spot for the country ever since she filmed Lara Croft: Tomb Raider here in 2001. Her oldest son Maddox was born in Cambodia and she even shot a 2011 Louis Vuitton ad there.
Why: You don't need to be on your gap year to do the whole south-east Asia gig. In fact, you can feel pretty darn clever delving into the lost city of Mahendraparvata, which was discovered last summer under a load of vegetation. Worth a visit, even if you've already done nearby Angkor Wat.

BE AHEAD OF THE CURVE HERE
Where: Riga, Latvia.
Who: Latvian Victoria's Secret model, Ieva Laguna.
Why: This city used to be Latvia's party central, but now it's earned its cool cultural chops by being named one of 2014's European Capitals of Culture (alongside Umea in Sweden), thanks to its vintage shopping scene and cosy cafes.
CHANNEL YOUR INNER VOGUE COVER STAR HERE
Who: Rihanna was recently in Rio de Janeiro shooting her Vogue Brazil cover (remember when BFF Cara Delevingne was doing the same back in October?) so it's clearly the place to be seen.
Why: Since winning the bid to host the 2014 World Cup (happening in June), Brazil has been pumping a lot of money into glamming up their streets/transport so go now before the 2016 Summer Olympics rush.
REINVENT THE STAYCATION HERE
Where: Glasgow, Scotland.
Who: Bands like Foals are set to play in the Scottish city this year. Oh, and Scottish model Amanda Hendrick (who you, ahem, recognise from ASOS) is from here, too.
Why: All eyes are on Glasgow this year as the city is hosting the Commonwealth Games from 23 July, and with the verdict for Scottish independence referendum held on 18 September, you'll feel super cultural by being part of it all. Plus, the Merchant City area (think warehouses and food markets) is now a major entertainment hub. Take that, Meatpacking District.
