Give your look the equivalent of a lick of Dulux with these 10 new-season pieces. Go forth and shop, y'all.
Get on top of texture this season, especially in fluffy mohair and pale colours like dove grey or blush pink. Note the new shape (yes, we do get a bit bossy when we're talking about something as serious as the new season) – it's less structured and more boyish.
If you were to buy just one thing this season (as if), it would have to be something in checks: a flannel shirt, kilt-type skirt or tartan trousers.
The word 'mannish' is a bit eww, but 'boyish' just doesn't cut it somehow. Think Mod. Think mono. Think Nicole Richie – she was wearing 'em all summer.
How nice is the contrast of a fluffy knit under your biker jacket? Angora, mohair and fleecy knits are everywhere this autumn (and not just because these fabrics moult).
Chunky chains, chokers, ear cuffs and spikes are giving a whole lotta edge to our look right now. And for the more adventurous, try grillz.
Jeans are looser, more battered and most importantly, cropped to way, way above your ankle bone (either turned up or chopped). Wear with your denim jacket or shirt for extra fashion points.
'My favourite colour is shiny,' said New York socialite and US Vogue contributor Lauren Santo Domingo, and we couldn't agree more. This skirt is ticking two boxes: it's shiny (a major A/W'13 trend) and it's also longer and flared. To be worn with that fluffy jumper, obvs.
As we mentioned the other day, grey (insert 50 Shades of... reference here) is big news this autumn, and for trainers it feels 'specially fresh. Think Cara D.
The new hand luggage has got structure. It's neat, defined and totally brings your look together. Snap.
Still a total fashion win, the sweatshirt is updated this season with a graphic check print and/or block colour. Nuff said.
