While you were working through last week's to-do list, we were working through the SXSW 2014 line-up. The annual week-long festival in Austin, Texas, is famed for showcasing under-the-radar bands destined to make it big (last year, Chvrches, Lianne La Havas and Icona Pop played). The only problem is, the schedule has a tendency to read like a list of new-dictionary additions, and with the rumour mill going into overdrive about who is or isn’t playing, we decided to clear a few things up. Behold, from the IRL official line-up, our brand-new faves:
While the rest of the line-up may still be in their baby years, Black Lips are this year's festival-seasoned rockers – they’ve been touring their lo-fi indie rock since 1999.
When she’s not making light installations, Norwegian songstress Jenny Hval is singing about gender and sexuality. Take that, Miley.
Providing a bit of urban cool for those not so into guitars and skinny jeans, the Brooklyn rapper has worked alongside Kanye, The Roots and John Legend, to name a few.
The band formed over a passion for Daft Punk and infectious beats. They haven't been around for that long, but producers are already queuing to remix them.
Kinda like a young 2 Chainz but with more air horns, we reckon Will Brennan’s gonna be tearing up the after parties at this year's festival.
