While you were counting down the hours until Friday, the big shots at Team BRITs announced the Critics' Choice Award shortlist. The nominations are selected by industry heavyweights (the clue's kinda in the title isn't it?) and previous winners include Florence + The Machine, Emeli Sandé and Adele – so it's pretty darn prestigious.

On this year's list is 19-year-old Ella Eyre (the girl howling 'Tell me that you need me, tell me that you want me' on Rudimental's Waiting All Night), and we're obsessed. Channelling Beyoncé with her killer blonde waves and big-pop bangers, she's just what the party season needs.

Ella's in good company on the list with Chlöe Howl and Sam Smith – so who's got your vote? The winner is announced 12 December and will collect the award at the BRIT Awards next February.
