WHY THE METALLIC JACKET IS YOUR NTK

By Maybelle Morgan, 27 September 2017

While we’re dismayed to find that the weather actually warrants puffer-level quilting right now, it’s not so bad when you're repping out-of-this-world, space-suit metallics. Whether it’s foil, oil-slick or reflective material, it’s all about getting your shine on this cold season. See how to wear it here…

Chanel went full-on rocket man for autumn/winter 2017, with models taking to the catwalk tucked into holographic quilted capes. And the Barbarella vibes didn’t stop there: 80s-style ruched trousers came in a tin finish and knee-high boots were adorned in glitter with shiny patent toes. The foil metallic gloves served that final style punch.

The future is bright, the future is silver. Proof? This sweet-as going-out-out look from ASOS Insider Elizabeth. Here, more is more. Yep, it's all about going extra with your staples and wearing them loud and proud. Your 90s spaghetti-strap dress goes inches shorter and pops in neon lime. Match up your trainers with fluoro detailing – the techier the better. And, of course, finish with one NASA-worthy puffer to steal all the stares.

Try it on

The puffer obsession of last year is anything but over. The AW17 update sees the quilted padding getting a high-shine silver makeover, perfect for adding some bold texture to any look. Keep all eyes on the cover-up by making the rest of your outfit plain and simple. All-black everything does the trick – skinnies, a fluffy jumper and some chunky lace-up boots.
