Among the usual spring pastels, make-up supernova Diane Kendal swept some of the model's lids with a hint of dark green gloss at the SS17 Nina Ricci show. Not only did it offer a fresh alternative to a daytime smokey eye, but also proved that more-often-than-not shadow looks even better when it's not completely perfect (amen).

Model Elsa Hosk took her green shadow down the shimmery route, with tonnes of red carpet drama thrown in to help make your Saturday night beauty dilemmas just that little bit simpler. If you're armed with a matte option, add glitter dust over the top to get the Hosk-effect, and continue building up a bigger section of your lid for maximum impact.

Try it out

To nab the look, you'll need to swap out your grey and smokey shades with a dark green powder. This one from Benefit comes as a handy duo, so you can mix for a more shimmery look, or use the neutral as a base for the green shadow. Apply to your lids as generously as you like, and don't be afraid to get smudgy with your technique for a less preened look. Cue green-eyed monsters, everywhere.
