The five best ankle boots to wear this season

By Anna Heaton, 23 October 2016

Your ankle boots are basically your BFF, so you'll be pleased to know they're back this season with an AW16 refresh. From print to embroidered updates, these ASOS staffers have got the 411 on new ways to wear them…

Laura Shehata, picture editor

Sitting pretty between this season's Grunge Spirit and Twisted Beauty trends, Laura's medley of lace and velvet is set off perfectly by her chunky high-shine boots. She nails it with some layered chokers and a messy up 'do to show them off.

Phoebe Rayner, CRM executive

Phoebe keeps it simple with a black roll neck (and cute goldie looking chain), untucked from some faded wash jeans – with AW16-appropriate undone hems. The boots are the real party piece, though, complete with floral embroidery.

Karen De Caux, strategic brand partnerships manager

Giving strong Scandi feels, Karen opts for a sleek workwear look with a clean cut navy tee and black leather trousers. She reps leopard-print boots (which is a great way to break up a minimal look) to make it extra chic.

Anna Heaton, junior editor and ASOS Insider

Anna gives a heavy nod to 90s grunge with a pop of red tartan and fishnet tights. She added extra toughness to the look with her Dr. Martens boots, which, by the way, will see you right through winter, no probs.

Lauren Tuckerman, community coordinator

Giving her high-shine faves a workwear makeover, Lauren wears hers with a too-cute gingham pinafore dress over a black roll neck (ultimate autumn layer player). Add black tights, too, because, yes, it's that time again.
