He captained a warship in Master and Commander, led a rebel uprising in Gladiator, did some maths in A Beautiful Mind, and now, Australia's premier thesp, Russell Crowe is taking on Noah.

Also starring Emma Watson, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Jennifer Connelly and a butt-ton of CGI animals, this is going to be a big, divisive film, because it turns out that some people don't dig it when their beliefs are turned into entertainment.

If you don't know the story, firstly, that's weird, and secondly, here's a quick synopsis: After Adam and Eve release original sin on Earth, God eventually gets hacked off when most of mankind turn into jerks, and plans to flood the planet and start all over again.

However, Noah and God are tight, so he gets a psychic heads-up about the deluge and begins building a massive arc, or ship, for the layman, which will carry him, his family and a pair of every animal on Earth to safety.

Directed by Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan), this is a $130-milliion epic in the most tradition sense of the word.
