Cosy linings, woolly collars and full-blown fleeces – this winter, teddy-bear texture has taken over. Here are four stylish ways to get on borg.

Real shearling, or sheepskin, was protecting cowboys, pilots and football managers against the elements well before Kanye West cottoned on. The coat’s thick wool lining was a snug way of keeping warm, but borg doesn’t come courtesy of our four-legged friends. This soft synthetic alternative has become an autumn/winter favourite and is now reinforcing all of our outerwear.

First up, it’s Levis’ all-American staple, the mighty denim jacket. A cream collar and comfy lining are the perfect way to adapt this cult item for the cold weather. A cool distressed wash keeps things classic and stops things from feeling too clean cut. Or, if you want to introduce even more texture and seasonal colour, try a camel suede style for an irresistibly soft addition to your frost-fighting kit.

For a printed approach, opt for a beefed-up buffalo-check shacket. A pale borg collar complements the bold red and black plaid of this lumberjack style. And to really go big on borg, try Reclaimed Vintage’s fluffy brown bomber. Not quite a full-on fleece, but just as cosy, it’s an interesting riff on a familiar favourite that’ll look as good teamed with jeans as a pair of joggers.
