Street style: men about town

By Gavin Jewkes, 6 June 2014

London Collections: Men kicks off next weekend, providing the coolest, most innovative menswear designers with a platform to share their latest weird and wonderful creations with the world.

But it's not just the big names jetting into town for the showcase who have caught our eye with their skilfully executed outfits. No, no, no – we've been on a stroll about London and seen how men on the street are nipping at the well-shod heels of the fashion set. Here are just a few of our favourites.

We're not entirely sure about the T-shirt, but this man's wide-brimmed trilby/sunglasses combination is a triumph. Not only is he protecting himself from the sun's rays, but his choice of summer accessories ensures he looks like a man on the way to a barbecue where there'll be beautiful company and beer in abundance.

Not only has this fella nailed Tyra Banks' whole 'smizing' thing (smiling with your eyes), but he clearly knows a thing or two about adapting a denim jacket to work with a summer outfit. It's simple, friends: rolling up the sleeves keeps your wrists cool (essential, obviously), while keeping your body warm.

Ah, yes – another fearless advocate of denim. This time, in an oversized fit, which looks good with his buttoned-up shirt and unapologetically box-fresh Adidas high-tops.

The kind of man so intriguingly handsome that you wouldn't leave your girlfriend alone with him, this guy's got the angry hipster vibe locked down. Extra points for the fire-engine-red desert boots, because, well, they're fire engine red.

Praise be to whoever it was that made rain macs cool again. This guy's fisherman yellow number is a beast, and he knows it. Just look at that knowing smirk!
