With a bucketload of early hype and the fastest-selling debut album ever, Alex Turner and the Arctic Monkeys have been seriously famous pretty much from the moment they became known outside of Sheffield. In that sense, this weekend's headline sets at Reading and Leeds Festivals count as business as usual.

But in most other respects, it's been quite a journey for young Al from High Green: from the urgent punk clatter of I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor to the heavy-hitting swagger and groove of fifth album AM, and from awkward teenage upstart in a trackie top to today's suited and booted rock god.
