Who is your all-time style icon?
Keith Richards. He looks good all the time, doesn’t he? Or maybe Paul Smith.
What’s the most indulgent item you’ve ever bought for yourself?
I bought, like, stupidly expensive stuff when I started telly that I’ve never even worn. Expensive things from Savile Row.
As a rule, do you not buy expensive things, then?
Well, not really – I just try and borrow it, because it’s a waste of money, isn’t it? Like an expensive suit – once you’ve worn it you can’t wear it again. The press are like, ‘Oh my God, Naomi Campbell wore the same top twice!’ It’s a weird world that we live in where you can’t wear the same thing twice.
Are there any style rules you think men should live by?
I hate flip-flops on men.
How do you feel about a slider?
I don’t mind a slider. Bare feet in cities – so flip-flops in the city – are disgusting. I don’t like people who shave their chests, either. Back waxing is perfectly acceptable though. I also hate low Vs. I hate a deep V with a shaved chest and flip-flops.
Are you pro or anti-beard?
Pro-beard! I like a beard. I tried to grow one, but it was during the bike ride extravaganza and the training plus beard was too much – too sweaty [Grimshaw rode a stationary bike for 12 hours straight as part of this year’s Sport Relief charity event].
How many tattoos do you have?
I’ve got eight. There's an eyeball that my friend did in January – I just let him do what he wanted. I got a puppy last Sunday. The one on my foot was the first – it’s come off, which I didn’t think would happen. Me and my best friend Grania got it when we were 18, and I think hers is still on. I have no idea why it’s come off.
