Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, the debut album from Atlanta hip-hop duo Outkast, turned 20 years old over the weekend. Not only did this landmark record herald a major new talent – one that would help the South break the East Coast/West Coast dominance of the rap game, before branching out in all manner of leftfield musical directions – it also introduced hip-hop's first dandy to the world.

Long before Kanye West became a fixture on catwalk front rows, André 3000 (real name André Benjamin) carved a unique path as rap's most enthusiastic fashion adventurer. To celebrate Outkast's big birthday and the return of André and partner Big Boi to the touring circuit this season (we'll be seeing 'em at Splendour!), check out five of his most amazing ensembles.
