If you've ever been skiing (and lord knows, it won't be this week), you'll know that learning is a little bit like being a baby as they take their first steps. All of those body movements you've spent years perfecting, go right out the window as you slide, face first, down an Alpine hillside while a group of local youths point and laugh.

It's hard, humiliating and a lot of fun. But like anything impressive - surfing, knife throwing, making beef jerky - you have to spend a lifetime practising to make it look easy.
