I chose Edward Kimani as my most stylish man from Australia because his style exudes confidence and effortlessness. When I'm photographing on the street I'm always looking for guys who are dressed in a way that comes naturally to them, while always expressing who they are. I think keeping it simple is essential, while having one piece that makes a statement; in this case, Edward's necktie. He was a comfortable winner. Congratulations!
If you can master the art of accessorising then you can effortlessly step up your style game. The right accessories will always help you stand out from the crowd, without attracting too much attention. Take Leo’s sunglasses as an example: a quick win with minimal effort. And, as always, simplicity and attention to the detail is key - such as these perfectly cut khakis and slim-fit shirt. Simplicity, detail and fit: three steps to style success. Congratulations Leo!
We selected Matthieu for his playful take on the basics, all worn in a very contemporary way but with a touch of eccentricity. The black shoes convey a classic elegance, as does the navy blue blazer. But choosing a pair of slim jeans, a bold shirt with narrow neck and a thin black tie gives a sharper look to his outfit that contrasts with the formal elements of the first two parts. We also liked the set-up of the picture – Matthew is clearly a man who enjoys his style. Congratulations!
Who would have thought that it would be so hard to choose the winner of the ASOS #worntowin contest? We know that ASOS customers are some of the best dressed people around, but this was tough! However, after several late-night discussions we finally agreed who the winner should be…It is (Oscar-like fanfare please): Mali Karakurt. He not only convinced us with his Doc Martens, slim jeans and well-groomed hair, including the Williamsburg full beard, but also with the subtlety of his red checked shirt beneath the awesome jumper. Mali, on whichever fountain you are leaning….we congratulate you!
This guy knows how to do autumnal really well. A stacked brogue, thick check scarf and presence of a pocket square means he knows how to accessorise well. The tones of his shirt, blazer and pants are different but come together perfectly. Navy and green is a great colour combination and this outfit is a reminder of this. Then of course, the printed sock. On paper this wouldn't seem like a great idea but on his person, it looks great. A perfectly suave outfit.
I like the simplicity of Alejandro’s style: dark-on-dark colours mixed with the strong aesthetic of the coat. He is original, but not over-the-top. It is a personal yet understated style. I particularly like the shoes, but the harmonious tone-on-tone sweater/pant combination, and the simple crew-neck all enhance his look. Last, but definitely not least, is Alejandro's lack of pretention. His natural styling, with apparently un-groomed hair and beard, all combine to tell the story of his style. Thank you to all the contestants. And to the winner, congratulations!
Trim’s look is relaxed and comfortable - such an important part of men’s style. The Italian word “sprezzatura” means looking stylish with complete nonchalance. It’s about making style look easy; as if you’ve forgotten what you’re wearing. I think Trim has it. Emerald green and mustard are on-trend right now, and they fulfil the playful casual part; whilst the double-breasted raincoat and tan leather bag balance the formal role. Trim’s outfit is versatile, too - tuck in the shirt and lose the hat/glasses and you’re down to business. Lose the tie and it’s straight to the pub!
Of all the great entries, Andy’s look stood out. For the most part he’s keeping it subtle, combining a dark navy basis with a well-fitted black blazer and black slim jeans. The styling is what takes this look over the edge, with the rolled up cuffs; the pops of white with the classic low-top Converse, as well as a simple pocket square; the retro-glasses; and of course the two-tonal fedora. I think he’s on to several trends, the return of the hat being one of them, but also the mixture of dapper elements with sneakers is on the money!
